I have great pleasure in announcing that, once again, our now-famous NEW YEAR’S EVE SET MENU will be served in our dining room, lounge and balcony areas on the evening of the 31st of December 2013. We will be happy to reserve a table for yourselves to see in the 2014 new year (menu details herebelow – most highly recommended!

As usual, we will feature great music to accompany your meal, with great dance music provided later in the evening until dawn. A glass of Kir Royale, as well as festive table and other decorations, are included in the per-person price.

As space is fairly limited and we are already receiving numerous prepaid table reservations from our Guests for this most special occasion, we recommend that you reserve your table(s) soonest. What a fabulous Gourmet Food and Wine Event at Villa Belmonte on Friday evening. We did ourselves proud with the pairing of excellent food and the world-class wines of Hamilton Russell Vineyards and its sister brands: Southern Right and Ashbourne. Hamilton Russell well deserves its reputation as one of the very top-end Chardonnay and Pinot Noir producers worldwide and certainly the best in the New World. Anthony and Olive, thank you so much! And to my lovely wife and our team: well done!

“An Occasion to Remember”

I have great pleasure in announcing that, once again, our 4-course St Valentine's Day Set Menu will be served in our dining room and lounge and on our terrace on the evening of the 14th of February 2012. We will be happy to reserve a table for yourselves (see menu below – this is highly recommended!)

A glass of Kir Royale and a bottle of Villa Belmonte's house bubbly for two are included in the per-person price. A multitude of well priced wines and other drinks will be available.

As space is fairly limited and we are already receiving numerous prepaid table reservations from our guests and clients for this most special occasion, we recommend that you reserve your table(s) soonest. We will require a deposit of the full dinner amount of R 289.00 per person, including VAT, other drinks excluded, to be received by ourselves as soon as possible once your table reservation has been made and confirmed.

Please note that we are able to accommodate larger tables to a maximum of 12 persons, with the the provisor that the reservation is made well in advance of the event.

Dress code: Smart. The event will commence at 7.00pm for 7.30pm.

ST VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER - TUESDAY, 14 FEBRUARY 2012.

“An Occasion to Remember”

A brief history of St Valentines Day celebrations: at the time of Valentine, a "Valentine" was a message of friendship. The message of love was further introduced in the Middle Ages. There are traces of this custom in England in the 14th century. After the defeat of Azincourt in 1415, Charles of Orleans left England after 25 years of captivity, bringing with him a very romantic English tradition consisting, for a lover, to send his beloved a message full of love and tenderness, called a "Valentine", on St Valentine's Day. In 1496 St Valentine officially became the patron of Lovers. Valentines, decorated with hearts and cupids, spread throughout Europe in the 18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, Valentines were the most widespread way to declare one's love. During Victorian times, Valentines were true works of art: quill drawn, decorated with lace, silk, satin, flowers, some even scented, and supplemented with highly romantic poems. Nowadays, each year more than one billion postcards are exchanged in the world for St Valentine's Day, of which women write 85%! Valentines are sometimes sent electronically, but nothing replaces an old-time Valentine card that tells so well how much love unites two Valentines!

There can be no better place to celebrate St Valentine's Day than at Villa Belmonte!

I'm so happy and proud to announce that today is the 20th anniversary of the inception of our little hotel, Villa Belmonte! What an amazing ride we have had and arestill having! There have been many ups and downs, but looking back, I would still have done the same: find a beautiful period house in a great location, somehow find the money to finance it, carefully reconstruct it, renovate it, furbish it, and start business on 2 January 1992. We took it from an upmarket guest house to a 5 star boutique hotel in 10 years. I congratulate Tabea, my lovely wife, without whose extraordinary effort, Villa Belmonte would not have seen the light of day. We should write a book or make a movie. Should be a best seller. All the best and a very happy New Year to you all.
