The first International Choral Conductors’ Seminar was successfully held in February 2014 in the province of Kwa-Zulu-Natal, South Africa. The primary objectives of the International Choral Conductors’ Seminar are to address the need for training that exists amongst beginner and experienced choir conductors, to facilitate the learning process of local choir conductors so that they may me be empowe
red in their music-making to teach others in their own communities; to inspire singers and emerging conductors in our communities to continue to develop their skills; to work towards social cohesion in their communities through singing together; and to create opportunities for local conductors to receive quality skills training of an international standard which they would not otherwise have been privy to. The Choral Conductors Society in South Africa (CCSSA) was also established on 23 February 2014 at the first meeting of choral conductors from all over South Africa who attended the 1st International Choral Conductors’ Seminar at the Fern Hill Hotel near Pietermaritzburg, KZN. At this meeting the Choral Conductors Society in South Africa (CCSSA) was founded and Jaco Dippenaar was appointed as chairman and coordinator of the society. The purpose of the CCSSA is to promote collaboration between choral conductors in South Africa with regard to touring, combined projects and sharing of ideas and knowledge. Membership of the CCSSA is free and available to all who are interested, but requires online registration (see http://ccsinternational.co.za/ccsa-members/)
Members of the CCSSA automatically qualify for a discount on seminar fees equivalent to the Early Bird Registration Fee.
