* Scammers have moved from Whatsapp to Email Phishing: “These emails are being sent from stolen (compromised) email accounts, so the sender's address may look genuine or familiar and cannot be used to confirm that a message is authentic.”
* Activity is arriving in waves: "The attempts appear to come in waves, with quiet periods in between. A lull does not mean the threat has passed."

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS:
*De Hoop Collection will only communicate via official channels. This includes emails from our domain and our telephone number +27 21 422 4522.

Beach time bliss as whale season is in full swing along our coastline. Come and enjoy world-class land based whale watching at De Hoop Collection.

The Southern Right whale has made the De Hoop Reserve one of the world’s best land based whale-watching areas. This marine protected area is a World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most important nurseries for this endangered mammal. During the winter months (June to November), Southern Right whales come so close to the shoreline that visitors can relax on the un-spoilt sand dunes and watch in awe as these beautiful creatures calve, blow, breach and belly-flop.

Have you added the De Hoop Guided Vulture Experience to your bucket list?🪶

Adventure out to the cliffs of Potberg Mountain to view endangered Cape Vultures – the Western Cape’s last surviving colony of these amazing birds. Depart from the Opstal Area in the morning (times vary according to seasons) with your guide for a scenic drive through endangered fynbos. Once at Potberg, guests will hike (+-1 hour) up to the Vulture Deck to watch the vultures swoop and soar above.

Rate includes your packed picnic presented in a backpack for you to carry. Suited to Guests aged 12 and over. Minimum of 2 guests, maximum of 10. Prior arrangement & booking essential. Day visitors welcome. (Approx. 3 hours)

De Hoop Collection is proud to announce that it has officially opened its newest educational attraction, the De Hoop Earth Age Display

Launched at a function at De Hoop Collection on Saturday 22 August 2026, The Wall, developed in partnership with the Overberg Geoscientists Group, offers visitors an accessible, engaging look into the region’s geological history.

The De Hoop Earth Age Display complements the ‘Origins of Early Southern Sapiens Behaviour’ exhibition, the anthropological showcase hosted by De Hoop Collection since January 2024. The exhibition showcases the unique archaeological discoveries at archaeological sites of Blombos Cave, Klipdrift Shelter and Klasies River, occupied by early Homo Sapiens between 120 000 and 50 000 years ago.

The Wall addresses a critical gap in public awareness of South Africa’s geo-heritage. Designed to simplify the intimidating concept of ‘Geological Time’, the display maps out the 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history into a physical, manageable walking distance.
