Big news for South Africa’s creative industry!
�Thekgang NPC, under the mandate of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, has officially launched the Book Publishing, Manufacturing and Distribution Cluster.

This initiative will open doors for authors, illustrators, publishers, and distributors — with a strong focus on indigenous languages, inclusivity, and accessibility. From book distribution in schools to skills programmes and workshops, we’re building a future where every South African voice can be heard.

Books are a cornerstone of cultural expression and nation-building,” says spokesperson Melvin Kaabwe.

Calling all Organisations in the Books and Publishing Industry: Manufacturing and Distribution

The SA Booksellers Association has been engaging with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture as part of the DASC - Cultural and Creative Industries engagement.

Part of this DSAC programme is to build a formal representation structure consisting of ORGANISATIONS from the Book Industry,to engage with the DSAC, which will include among others Associations and Industry Organisations for Booksellers, Book Distributors, Publishers, Authors, Editors, Typsetters, Printers, Book IP and Copyright Lawyers, etc.
The SA Booksellers Association is inviting all Industry Organisations (note: not individuals/companies, but Organisations) to join us and other organizations from the sector representing authors, publishers, etc. , in forming, developing and constituting this DSAC recognised body.

Should your organisation be in the Books and Publishing: Manufacturing and Distribution or the Books and Publishing: Content Developers and Creators sectors, please contact us (via email below) to participate in this process.
