Klein Constantia and WOW – this legendary Constantia Valley gem is pure magic!
Cape Dutch manor vibes, Mediterranean breeze, and that iconic Vin de Constance – the dessert wine that’s been seducing kings, emperors, and wine lovers for over 300 years (Napoleon was obsessed!).
Napoleon Bonaparte was genuinely obsessed with Vin de Constance.
Historical records show that during his exile on Saint Helena (1815–1821), he drank little else in his final years. The wine was specifically requested and shipped to the island at great expense. It’s documented that on the day he died, 5 May 1821, a glass of Vin de Constance (diluted with water) was one of the last things he drank.
The estate’s own cellar records and Napoleon’s valet’s memoirs (notably Louis Étienne Saint-Denis, known as “Mameluke Ali”) confirm that he asked for it constantly and praised it highly. When supplies ran low toward the end, he reportedly said, “When I am no more, let them give me a few drops of Vin de Constance in my mouth so that I may die with the taste of it.”
From crisp whites to bold reds and sparkling stunners, every sip is history in a glass. Oh, and they just skyrocketed 35 spots to claim #6 in the World’s Best Vineyards 2025, snagging Highest Climber AND Best Vineyard in Africa! If you’re in Cape Town, run don’t walk – this is wine heaven! 🍇✨
