Pooh Bear's bees?
A huge poplar blew down in the river a few weeks ago in one of the many storms we have had this winter, bringing with it a wild beehive. The bees have been residents of Pooh Corner longer than we have. Thanks to the wonderful help of Jenny Cullinan, an expert in wild bees, they have remained in their newly positioned poplar trunk nest and don't seem to want to leave Pooh Corner.

All the leaves are down at last!
Gardening over the last 5 months has been a constant leaf raking, leaf blowing, leaf chopping up , leaf removal from beds exercise. Oh the joy of a green leafless lawn for a little while!
And now to process all that compost..........

Oh what glorious rain! Our river is flowing at last. Such a beautiful sight and sound. A day for admin, coffee, potting and a glaze firing and ending with chili con carne around the fire with Netflix and family.

A friend gave me some Jerusalem Artichoke rhizomes to plant in my veggie patch a year ago....... What an adventure! They took forever to grow to these huge sunflower like plants, then we harvested the strange noduled roots, scrubbed and chopped and made an awesome soup. I can see that this will be a long love affair with this beautiful and curious plant.

A Magical Forested Getaway

The house at Pooh Corner is situated on an acre plot in the heart of Noordhoek valley, nestled between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. The peaceful setting & luxury accommodation promise to delight our guests.

Pooh Corner will be enjoyed most by those who want to get away from the noise and crowds, to a beautiful home from home. Enjoy sumptuous breakfasts, served in the garden and watch the squirrels cavorting in the trees. 100 year old oak trees and the original nineteenth century Chapman’s Peak Drive bridge, form wonderful accents in the forested garden. A Bonsai garden, a romantically secluded swimming pool and formal herb garden all add to the charm of staying at Pooh Corner
