🌬️ THE WIND IS PART OF THE TANKWA ADVENTURE
The Tankwa Karoo is wild, open and beautifully unpredictable — and yes, sometimes the wind blows, especially later in the afternoon and evening.
At our cabins and glamping tents, we have wind shelters to offer some protection. However, camping is camping, and there is only so much we can do when nature decides to make its presence known.
With wide-open plains, mountains and very little to stop the movement of air across the landscape, wind is simply part of experiencing this incredible place. Some evenings are completely still, while others remind you that you are right in the heart of nature.
At Campsite 5, we have added wind shelters at the braai to provide extra protection.
Campsite 4, however, is built on a rock formation, which means that we could not add additional wind shelters — even tent pegs do not work properly in the rocky ground.
For this reason, we recommend caravans and rooftop tents at Campsite 4. It is not suitable for ground tents.
Our advice? Come prepared and embrace the adventure.
If the wind picks up, don’t spend the afternoon sitting inside your tent feeling miserable. Jump in the vehicle and explore! 🚙
Visit Tankwa Karoo National Park, only about 7 km from our farm, or take a drive to Da Doer Padstal, approximately 36 km away. Explore the Tankwa, enjoy the scenery.
