In summer you can enjoy the road up the mountain with any 2x4 and see Vaal ribbok and Table Mountain from up there. The famous Merino Monster Mountain Bike race takes place here. Picnic place has a toilet and fresh water.

The latest forecast models are showing a potentially significant winter system, but it is still too early to treat this as a confirmed snow forecast.

At this stage, a strong cold front is expected to reach the south-west on Sunday, bringing widespread rain, strong winds and much colder conditions. Behind the front, a cut-off low could develop and spread widespread rain across much of the country, while possibly lowering freezing levels enough for snow to fall in parts of all nine provinces.

Cut-off lows are difficult to predict far in advance. Even a small change in the system’s position, strength, speed or moisture supply can completely change where the heaviest rain, coldest air and snow occur.

Snow is even more sensitive, as cold air, moisture and precipitation must all occur in the same place at the same time. A slight temperature change or shift in the system could mean rain instead of snow - or no precipitation at all.
