📌 PACKAGE

🔎 REQUIREMENTS
FGASA NQF2 or higher

Full Trails qualification or Back‑Up Trails (minimum)

Valid ARH, First Aid, PrDP, and all guiding paperwork up to date

Dangerous Game experience on foot

Strong knowledge of mammals, birds, botany, tracking, and general ecology

Professional, well‑presented, and guest‑centric

Physically fit and able to conduct long walks in varied terrain

South African citizen or valid work permit

🦁 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct safe, informative, and engaging walking safaris

Host guests on game drives when required

Deliver world‑class guest experiences with a strong educational focus

Maintain ri**es, equipment, and vehicle readiness

Assist with lodge duties, conservation tasks, and bush maintenance

Keep accurate sightings logs and guiding records

Overview

A Big Five lodge in the Eastern Cape is seeking a technically skilled Workshop Manager to oversee the vehicle workshop and fleet. This role requires a hands‑on individual with strong mechanical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a small team. The lodge values community upliftment and seeks a candidate who aligns with this ethos.

Essential Requirements
Experience working on diesel engines
Experience working on Toyota vehicles
Highly organised and meticulous with tools, stock, and record‑keeping
Excellent communication skills
Desired Requirements
Experience in a lodge or game reserve workshop environment
Experience with heavy machinery (e.g., tractors)
Experience managing a fleet of vehicles
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all workshop operations and workflow
Manage the lodge’s fleet of game viewers and transport vehicles
Ensure weekly vehicle checks are completed and recorded accurately
Proactively address all vehicle maintenance issues
Assist with vehicle recoveries on the reserve and access roads
Manage procurement of vehicle parts and repairs
Maintain accurate stock records for vehicle parts
Lead and supervise a small workshop team
Work closely with lodge management to ensure optimal vehicle performance
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with town trips when required
Support lodge and reserve teams with general workshop and maintenance tasks

We are seeking an experienced Management Couple or strong Lodge Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of an exclusive 5-bedroom safari lodge in Limpopo, situated within a private Big Five game reserve.

The lodge offers guests an authentic African bush experience, combining modern comforts with the rugged beauty of the surrounding wilderness. This is an ideal opportunity for hands-on hospitality professionals who enjoy working in a remote safari environment and are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The Position

* Live-in position at a remote safari lodge
* Salary: R55,000 per month
* Accommodation and meals provided
* Responsible for the overall day-to-day running of the lodge
* Guest relations and ensuring a high level of service
* Staff management, training and supervision
* Stock control, ordering and operational administration
* Maintaining lodge standards and presentation
* Working closely with owners and suppliers
* Hands-on involvement in all aspects of lodge operations
* Ensuring guests receive a memorable and personalised safari experience

Requirements

* Previous experience as a Lodge Manager, Assistant Lodge Manager or Management Couple
* Strong operational and leadership experience within a safari/lodge environment
* Excellent guest relations and communication skills
* Hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
* Valid driver’s licence
* Hospitality qualification will be advantageous
* Passion for the bush and the safari industry

Please note: This is a remote, live-in position. The closest town is approximately 1½ hours away. The position is not suitable for pets or children.

Position: Lodge Manager
Location: Welgevonden Game Reserve, Limpopo

As the owner is based in Europe, this role requires a trustworthy, self-motivated manager who can confidently oversee the lodge and its daily operations with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
