Dear friends, family, and all the beautiful souls who have been part of our journey,

In October 2017, Inch and I opened the doors to Purple Haze Eco Lodge, not knowing the incredible adventure that lay ahead. Over the years, we welcomed more than 3,500 guests—each one adding their own colour to the tapestry of this place we called home. We laughed, we shared stories, we built friendships on the Green Deck under starlit skies. So many beautiful people, so many beautiful stories.

Running the Haze was never just about business; it was about connection. It was about the strangers who became friends, the travellers who found solace here, and the countless moments of pure magic that unfolded in this little corner of the world. Inch and I poured our hearts into every sunrise, every shared meal, every sunset that painted the sky.

But as life has its way of reminding us, chapters—no matter how beautiful—must sometimes come to an end.
A month ago, Inch passed away. Losing her has been shattering in ways I can’t even put into words. She was the soft heart off the place, the warmth, the caring energy, heart of this place, the soul behind every kindness. And while my heart is heavy, I know she wouldn’t want me to dwell in sadness. She’d want me to honour her spirit, to carry forward the love she so effortlessly gave to the world. She would want me to be happy and to make as many people happy as possible, as always.

Covid brought its challenges, as it did for so many, and financially we’ve had to make difficult choices. And so, with a mix of gratitude, nostalgia, and hope, I share that Purple Haze Eco Lodge will be closing its doors. This place, this dream we built together, has given me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will forever be grateful.

But endings are also beginnings.

On Valentine’s Day, I will be launching something new—a project of giving back, of honouring Inch and her massive heart. Because love, kindness, and community don’t fade when a chapter ends. They find new ways to grow.

I’ll be sharing more soon, but for now, I just want to say: Thank you. To every guest who stayed with us, to every friend who supported us, to every person who made Purple Haze what it was—thank you from the depths of my heart. Your presence, your
stories, your love will always be part of this place and part of me.

Dear Friends, Family, Beloved Guests and Followers

It is with heavy hearts that we share some news with you. After the passing of our cherished Inch, we have made the difficult decision to take a short hiatus to honour her memory, reflect on our journey, and reimagine the future of Purple Haze Eco Lodge.

This time away will allow us to heal, regroup, and come back stronger than ever. We are excited to announce that we will reopen for bookings on 14 February 2025 with a fresh vision and exciting new offerings for our guests.

You can still enjoy a safe Wild Coast holiday this December. Follow these tips from Kei Mouth Tourism and abide in common sense. We in Chintsa East have also sharpened up security, we have good tarred roads and we are between Great Kei and East London, 30 mins from the city, but with the solitude and magic of the Wild Coast. It's where you want to be! ☺️ 💜

While the rest of South Africa is either snowed under or busy defrosting their garden fountains, we're out here enjoying blue skies and temperatures between 16' & 24' during the day... We've told you before - Chintsa has the best winter weather!

If you're needing some vitamin D... We're only a quick flight away from all major cities, and only 30 minutes from East London airport :)
