Our precious old girl on her evening saunter with us through our gardens. Our sweet Amalia is getting a little slower but she makes sure she doesn’t miss out on her walk.

The days are getting longer and warmer, the new leaves are pushing through and the colours in our gardens are marvellous.

It’s quite incredible seeing just how many different shades of green there are in the evening light - and then there is Claude’s green bridge - soon the water lilies will be flowering too, in our new lily pond. We are so looking forward. 🌸

Come for a stroll in our gardens. It’s a special time of the day. And …. For the flower enthusiasts …. We have flowers.

Good morning Yellow Aloe - you are looking magnificent in our garden this morning in your beautiful yellow attire.

Your generous contribution in colour, commands instant attention, as well as providing a rich food source for our loved insects and pollinators makes for an amazing show for those who stay a while just just sit a while and observe the comings and goings as you glisten in the sun. The energy you bring into our gardens is warm and positive. We thank you. You are a showstopper!

Wild Flower Magic. We stumbled upon this most beautiful Iris on our walk in the Cederberg Wilderness yesterday. At first we thought it was a shriveled flower and after bending down for a closer look, to try and identify what it could be, we were more than pleasantly surprised to see that she was in fact in full, perfectly glorious flower.

This Cederberg is the custodian of many hidden floral gems.

And in the heart of historic Clanwilliam situated at the gateway to the Cederberg, you will find Yellow Aloe Guesthouse and Coffee Shop. We are open. We invite you to come and wander through our beautiful gardens and rest a while.

Bouldering in the Cederberg.

We met up with Justine and Thomas from Nice who were intent on conquering the notorious Rhino. Justine was explaining to us, that it is not only the intense physical fitness as well as stamina needed to succeed but it is also a mental game.

Justine and Thomas have spent the last two weeks bouldering in our beautiful Cederberg Mountains and still have another ten days left. They firm part of the many, many climbers who travel to the Cederberg from around the world to enjoy rock climbing in these mountains. #

It was the perfect afternoon for a walk in this beautiful Cederberg Wilderness. We saw a variety of beautiful flowers, with plenty of busy pollinators busy in the warm sunshine working their magic in a variety of some of the flowers we enjoyed. The gentle sounds of the waterways, we criss crossed along our walk, together with the abundance of surrounding peace, under a beautiful blue sky and dazzling warm sunshine, brought out the rich warm colours of the incredible rugged rocks, left us soaking in the awesomeness of this rich Cederberg Wilderness.

What a privilege to live here. What a privilege to have these magnificent Cederberg Mountains as the backdrop to our beautiful Yellow Aloe gardens.

What a gem of a day it was. If you have yet to experience this natural wonder and her natural beauty, prioritize a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Our guests and ourselves were treated by chance, to a beautiful halo around the moon a little earlier this evening.

It was extraordinarily clear and beautiful. Our guests were thrilled as the sighting added to their Cederberg visit adventures. We were all out in the gardens, turning lights off to reduce the light pollution to capture the event on camera.

One of our friends immediately hopped onto Google to give us a more detailed explanation.

“A halo around the moon is a bright ring of light caused by ice crystals high in the earths atmosphere.

These crystals bend and split the moonlight. A ring that forms a wide, perfect circle, usually means thin, high clouds are moving in, which often brings rain or snow soon”.
