Someone loves us! A new road was build, leading straight to our huts. There is no bridge for our little stream (which is currently 8 cm deep, but can be crazy in heavy rain) and there is no drainage on the side of the roads, but for now you can reach our place comfortably with a VW POLO!

May, our best month is approaching with big steps. Winter time! Less wind, more sun, cooler nights..... And lots of flowers popping up. The Transkei with its lack of colours meets many indegenous and non indegenous plants in our large yard!

Our plot was a plain grass hill back in 2010.
We're proud of our huts and the lush tropical garden!
We are currently harvesting grapefruit, naartje, lime, lemon, guava, banana & Tamarillo! And of course vegetables!
Amazing how fertile the Transkei soil is!

I will try to send historic Google Earth photos to show how green our home became from the top view!

Heavy. Really heavy rain today!
This lovely small creature jumped in the kitchen while I caught a glimpse of weather outside. It is quite small and rembered me on a leaf frog.
I took some photos, covered my hands with a tissue and gently transported it out in the wet.
Google Lens helped me to identify it as a Painted Reed Frog. Apparently quite common.... but first time for me to meet one.
Common misbelief is that it is poisonous, due to its bright colours! It's not!

Seemingly the winter is over now. I hadn't been a big bird lover, but since I've got an addiction in planting trees, these will attract birds. This song from a Black Crowned Tchagra is just breath taking!
