What a fantastic afternoon at the beach for Felixton College!

Our young campers headed down to the beautiful Zinkwazi Beach for some ocean adventures, with surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling and beach exploration on the programme.

There was plenty of excitement, laughter and sandy feet as the learners enjoyed their beach activities at Sugar Bay.

A big Sugar Bay welcome to Felixton College! The Grade 1 to 3 learners arrived at camp in Zinkwazi Beach this morning, and it wasn't long before the fun began!

After meeting their counselors and settling into their cabins, the children had an exciting selection of activities to choose from, including skating, paintball, archery, swimming, climbing, badminton, DJing and friendship bracelets.

Lots of happy faces, new experiences and excitement as the learners begin their school camp adventure on the KZN North Coast.

Surfboards, kayaks, sand sculptures and plenty of sandy feet!

The learners from Royal Molefe Academy have had a brilliant time exploring the beach at Sugar Bay, with surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling and beach soccer all part of the fun.

There have also been raft-building challenges, crab hunting, beach games and lots of laughter along the way.

These are the moments that make a school camp so much fun — trying something different, sharing experiences with friends and enjoying the outdoors at Zinkwazi Beach on the KZN North Coast.

What happens when you give 24 teenagers their phones back after a week without them?

About ten years ago, Sugar Bay founder Zoë Ellender decided to find out. She thought she was rewarding a group of older campers by letting them have their phones for a couple of hours.

At the end of the week, they told her it was the worst part.

The friendships they'd been building, the conversations, the excitement of being together — all interrupted by the return of their screens.

More recently, a group of Grade 11 learners shared a similar experience. What initially felt like a punishment became one of the things they appreciated most about camp.

After more than 25 years of running Sugar Bay, Zoë has seen just how much children can gain from spending time away from their phones. She's also learnt that sometimes it's the parents who struggle most with the idea.

Teamwork, a little friendly competition and plenty of cheering on the beach!

The Grade 3 learners from Reddam House Umhlanga had a fantastic time taking on a beach relay challenge during their school camp at Sugar Bay.

There were some determined little competitors, lots of encouragement from their teammates and plenty of laughter along the way!

Beach time is always a favourite at Sugar Bay!

The Grade 3 learners from Reddam House Umhlanga had a fantastic selection of beach activities to choose from, including surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling, beach soccer and even raft building.

It's wonderful seeing the children enjoying the ocean, spending time with their friends and discovering new activities along the beautiful coastline of Zinkwazi Beach.

So much to do, and so many ways to have fun!

The learners from Royal Molefe Academy have been getting stuck into their school camp activities at Sugar Bay, with everything from skating, climbing and paintball to basketball, archery, swimming, DJing and creative activities like beading and friendship bracelets.

There's something special about watching children try new activities, encourage their friends and enjoy experiences they don't usually get in the classroom.

A very warm Sugar Bay welcome to Royal Molefe Academy!

We're so happy to have the Grade 3 to 6 learners joining us at Sugar Bay in Zinkwazi Beach for their school camp!

There’s so much to look forward to over the next few days, from beach adventures and outdoor activities to making new friends, trying new things and enjoying time together outside the classroom.

A big Sugar Bay welcome to the Grade 3 learners from Reddam House Umhlanga!

They’ve arrived at camp, and we’re so excited to have them with us here in Zinkwazi Beach!

Over the next few days, there’s kayaking, beach adventures, team activities and plenty of fun to look forward to. It’s a chance to enjoy time with friends, try something new and make some great memories outside the classroom.
