Such poor germination rates, I don’t think you can sell seeds with 0% germination
This was the feedback from my last order

Hi there, I hope this message finds you well.

Thank you for being so patient. We have done a germination test on the seeds; please see the results below:

* Chioggia Beetroot: 80%
* Oakleaf Red: 20%
* Arctic Rose Dwarf: 0%
* Marina di Chioggia: 0%
* Hokkaido: 0%

This is not up to our standards, and we would like to offer you a store credit. We will be growing out new lot numbers for these varieties that did not do so well.

Some of the batches did not perform quite as well as we expected. We would love to offer you a store credit for your next visit or online purchases with us.

We are already busy growing fresh new lots of these varieties to bring them back up to peak quality.

Please advise if I may proceed with loading the credit, or how you would like to proceed. 🌱

In 1992 we did a permaculture design course, one of the first offered in SA, it changed our lives
We looked at design differently, made choices based on the living world, and how we interact within systems.
On the 28th and 29th of November we are offering an introduction to this way of living facilitated by one of South Africas leading teachers Kate Curtis from Green Hearted Projects she is passionate about ecosystem regeneration and nature connection for positive planetary and social change.

We care deeply for the land we live with. So when Veld Wise told us of the remarkable work they offer it was a definite YES please 🐸🙂🍃🪲Their work at Numbi Valley over the past few weeks has been such an exciting journey, and the experience we have shared with these beautiful people has been way more valuable than first anticipated.
We found we had been walking past fascinating creatures and plants during our 22 years here, and through their observations we have become more aware of the intricate web of life surrounding us. We find ourselves asking how can we be in deeper relation with these life forms, how can we respect and nurture the abundant nature surrounding us. And then there has been the absolute joy of discovery 🙂
Thank you both Aaron Jones and Bella Joy Jones for your incredible macro talent and for the palpable love you have for this world. We are so grateful 🙏🏼

This is the time to ensure a great garlic harvest 🧄🧄🧄
We plant our garlic gloves into the soil in April or May into compost rich soil. Garlic love to grow on their own and unlike our other crops we don’t do diverse planting, the beds are mulched heavily to ensure there are no weeds
In spring it is crucial to give the plants a second feed by mulching with rich compost. And it is now, when daily temperatures start to increase that a thick mulch of straw is vital to keep the soils temperature low. This will ensure good bulb formation which happens in the last 6 weeks of growth. When 50% of the leaves die back, and the garlic plant pulls out of the ground easily( due to root die back) they are ready to harvest. For us that is usually early November
Almost all the garlic available in supermarkets are imported and radiated, I love growing and eating my own

Roxanne is an accredited herbalist, and on the 31st of October she will be offering a hands on workshop at Permaculture Oasis, De Rust to explore the medicinal plants of the region and our connection to nature, as well as a making of your own tinctures. Roxanne has dedicated her work to South African indigenous medicinal plants, their healing, their belonging in ecosystems and the stories they carry
