Sarah Basie, affectionately known as "Ouma" by everyone on the team, joined Villiera in 2023. Since then, she has become a valued member of our family through her dedication, hard work, and willingness to learn new skills.

Sarah has a special love for old-school recipes and traditional methods, not only when it comes to cooking but also for household cleaning tips and tricks. Her wealth of knowledge and experience is something we all appreciate.

If you ever need advice on crocheting, knitting, or cooking, Sarah is always happy to share her wisdom and lend a helping hand. Her kind nature, positive attitude, and strong work ethic make her a pleasure to work with every day.

Meet the Team – Miena Mocumi 🌿

Miena joined the Villiera family in 2017, and since then she has become our star baker. There isn’t a recipe Miena can’t master! With her natural talent in the kitchen, she plays a huge part in making the delicious food Villiera is known for.

Miena is a hardworking and dedicated member of our team who is never afraid to try something new. Her passion for baking and cooking shines through in every dish she prepares. And if there’s music playing on the radio, you can be sure Miena will sneak in a little dance while working in the kitchen — bringing smiles and joy to everyone around her. 💃🎶

Beyond the kitchen, Miena is a loving mother and a wonderful friend to everyone around her. Her kindness, warm personality, and commitment make her truly special, and we appreciate all the hard work and love she puts into Villiera every day.

🌳 PECAN NUT TREES 🌳

At Villiera, we are lucky to have a few beautiful pecan nut trees that were planted back in 2012.
Every year, as the South African harvest season arrives around the end of May and the beginning of June, we patiently wait for nature to do its work. When the pecans are ripe, the outer husks split open and some of the nuts naturally fall from the trees — especially after a good windstorm. We carefully pick these up by hand before the rest of the harvest begins.

Once the fallen pecans have been collected, the trees are gently shaken with a harvesting machine to bring down the remaining ripe nuts. After harvesting, the pecans are cleaned and dried before making their way into some of our favourite homemade treats.

From our kitchen to your table — we use our very own farm-grown pecans in our cakes, rusks, cookies, and fresh salads. There really is something special about using ingredients produced right here on our own land.

Fresh, local, homemade… the Villiera way. 🌿
