Chez Paddy (House of Paddy) is conveniently located in the heart of the leafy suburb of Durban North. It has stunning sea views from its well-manicured garden. The gentle swaying palms add to the relaxed tropical feel. The owners live on the property and the guesthouse is family-managed so you can be assured of personal attention.
The deluxe rooms are equipped with airconditioning, fridges, fans, smart i-cast TV, open-view, hi-speed uncapped wi-fi, JoJo tanks and an inverter to tide you over during loadshedding. There is also limited parking available behind locked gates. There is a second gate so that cars can move freely. We have installed a roof deck with beautiful sea views for you to enjoy.
From the moment of check-in you are assured of a warm friendly welcome and efficient service. The rooms are designed to provide corporate visitors with the comforts of an office and the holiday makers with the relaxation of a well-deserved getaway.
Its central location puts Chez Paddy within 7 minutes of the Durban Beach front, Umhlanga, Gateway, Moses Mabhida and UShaka Marine. It is also within walking distance of the Virginia Nature Reserve, Beachwood Golf course and Riverside Mangroves. Also, within walking distance are 3 major supermarkets, 3 garages, 5 banks and a multitude of restaurants and takeaways. It is an urban retreat in the midst of a city. The King Shaka International Airport is a 30 minute drive, the Suncoast Casino with its movie theatres, restaurants and casino is 7 minutes away. Virginia Airport is 4 minutes away.
Breakfasts and dinners are optional and are provided on request. Paddy has more than 40 years in the hospitality industry and is the former Executive Chef of the Edward Hotel, Riverside Hotel, Hotel California and Karos Capital Towers. So, you are in very capable hands and he is always on hand to attend to guest requests.
Our en-suite rooms give you a choice of kingsize or single beds and feature crisp white cotton linen and light-weight duvets. Additional blankets are available to accommodate the mild Durban weather. Tea/Coffee/bottled water and a luxury range of soaps and shampoos are also available.
Four of our bedrooms have seaviews and three bedrooms open onto a balcony.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chez Paddy. The owners made us feel welcomed, were gracious and very knowledgeable about how to safely navigate the city of Durban. Paddy is an amazing chef and suggested we try his bunny chow which is a type of South African street food. He prepared a mouthwatering mutton bunny chow served in a hollowed-out bread loaf. On our last night he prepared a memorable prawn curry we ordered ahead of time. The special attention to the presentation of the food served to enhance our experience. My friends and I are huge foodies, and we agree, Paddy is an artist with food. My room was charming, cozy and I was extremely comfortable. This home has stunning views of the ocean, and we enjoyed sipping some fine South African wines in the evenings on the patio. Terrific value for money. I highly recommend Chez Paddy and will gladly return to it.

Warm, Durban hospitality
We had such a warm welcome and our hosts went the extra mile for us during our stay.
The property is set within beautiful gardens with an ocean view. Our room had a roofed terrace with sunloungers and patio chairs right outside. The room was a good size, with plenty of storage space plus a fridge.
It's a 5-0 minute walk to Durban North Broadway, where there are a number of shops, restaurants and banks. We felt safe walking there in the daytime and took Ubers or ordered Uber Eats after dark.
The property itself has electric fencing, with remote control gate, making it very secure.
We were invited to join the owners at breakfast on our last day and wish we could have stayed to chat longer as they are both really interesting people and such wonderful hosts.
