After 20 years of running the guest house, we had to make a few mind shifts. Getting older and not enjoying the business as we used to and seeing how the area slowly deteriorated made us take the decision the sell the house and move on. The house was sold and on 17 May 2019 we moved to Dawncliffe, Westville. We are renting a house overlooking the Pavilion, UKZN and the sea on the horizon. We are now semi-retired and love the peace and quite in the new surroudings. The old house in Somerset Avenue has now been transformed into student accommodation. Thank you to all the people who liked our listing.

What a priviledge to have people from 3 different countries - 2 German students, 2 Portugese teachers and Peter from the UK (the same Peter for 7 years now!!). Mom moved in with us since August 2012 and chose one of the rooms with a balcony. At 83 she reckons climbing the stairs is better excercise than playing bowls! At times great discussions take place in the self catering kitchen. The German girls are amazing - one plays league tennis for the University and the other does ballroom dancing. Never a dull moment at Somerset Guest House!
