Our Heritage Week journey continues as we celebrate someone who has become an important part of the Berea Centre story; Lucien Gand of Fitness Company Gym.

Lucien has been part of the Berea Centre community for more than 40 years, making him our longest-standing tenant and a true part of the Centre’s history. ❤️

Over four decades, he has witnessed generations of shoppers, families and businesses come through the Centre, while building his own journey and legacy along the way.

Fitness Company Gym has become more than just a place to exercise. It has been a place where people have started fitness journeys, built healthy habits, challenged themselves and connected with their community.

Lucien’s story reminds us that legacy is built over time, through dedication, consistency and simply being there, year after year.

40+ years. Countless memories. One enduring connection to Berea Centre.

Our Heritage Week celebration continues with another incredible story from within the Berea Centre community, the legacy journey of Phume Myaka, our Centre Manager.

Phume’s story at Berea Centre began 15 years ago, when they first joined the Centre as part of the security team. From those beginnings, Phume has grown through the years, taking on new responsibilities and ultimately becoming the Centre Manager.

It’s a journey that speaks to growth, perseverance, opportunity and believing in what is possible. ❤️

From protecting and serving the Centre to helping lead it today, Phume has experienced Berea Centre from a very different perspective and has played an important role in the community along the way.

We start with Wanda Khuzwayo, the owner of Awenze iPlate Boi.

Wanda’s connection with Berea Centre goes back to 1998, when his family first started shopping at the Centre. Today, that journey has come full circle. Wanda is now a business owner with a store right here at Berea Centre. ❤️

It’s a story of connection, growth, opportunity and the importance of building something that can be carried forward.
