My name is Macho lovingly given to me by the Inspectors of the Bloemfontein SPCA. My name might seem strange to some of you but it translates to eyes in Swahili. My eyes tell a lot of my story, they tell the story of my sadness when I was first found abandoned in that house on my chain. My eyes tell the story of my hopelessness as I wondered where my next meal would come from, if I would sleep warm, and if I would have something to drink. My eyes tell many stories and still, if you look at me today my eyes tell the story of my abuse, the story of my trauma.
My eyes continue to speak volumes of my soul. I am not sure what tomorrow will bring, will my eyes see the day I have a loving owner, will my eyes see the day I sleep warm in a comfortable home, or will my eyes see the day I do not need to worry about my next meal?
My eyes have seen many things and although I'm scared, I know I'm safe at the SPCA, I have a meal and I can sleep warm but I wonder if I will find my new home, if could spend my time with a loving family until I close my eyes for the last time.
I am still at the SPCA in kennel 27 and even if you don’t want to take me home, come and visit me. Show me that humans are meant to give love and if you have a place in your home to make me yours and shower me with love, restore my faith in humanity, because as we all know the eyes are the gateway to the soul.
Macho weighed just over 15 kg went he was taken into our care, he slowly started his journey to recovery and under veterinary supervision is slowly gaining weight. Many animals tell stories but Macho’s eyes speak chapters about his life. He slowly started to trust us and to many of our staff is one of the most loving dogs in our care, He would often wrap his paws around you when you pet him, often begging not to be let go. If you are at the SPCA please visit him and you will make a small difference in your day but you can change the world for him. Macho is in kennel 27 and will soon go up for adoption if we receive the all-clear from our veterinarian. Applicants that are interested in giving this Labrador, boerboel cross a home can contact the Bloemfontein SPCA offices at 051 447 3801 for more information.
