‼️‼️QUARRY SUCCESS FOR THE BRAVE‼️‼️

It's been exceptionally challenging over the last couple of weeks with cold weather, erratic air pressures and tricky feeding patterns HOWEVER those who put in the time and explore their options have managed to bag some absolute gems at the Quarry

Jw Griesel laying his claim as the King of the Quarry with not only 2 stunning PB's but also claiming both the Common and Mirror records for the quarry under Academy Lakes, amongst other stunning smaller fish, all in a single session on swim 5. Well done!!! 👑

We also have young angler Lorenzo starting his specimen journey off with a new mirror PB of 5Kg fishing the close margins and a minimal feed approach on swim 2. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

‼️TEAM SNZ GETS TWO ON THE NIGHT SWIMS‼️

Shiraz Ismail , Rudi Kritzinger , Tarryn Nicole Boshoff and Eugene Lombard decided to do a last minute evening session at the night swims recently and despite this being their first encounter with the Quarry they didn't leave without getting the results.

Their idea for the session was fishing close margin areas only to see if they could entice some of our resident carp into picking up some baits just meters from the bank.... this was executed to perfection with both Tarryn and Eugene managing to get some stunning carp into their nets.

With more sessions on the horizon we can't wait to see what these amazing SNZ ambassadors do on the next few outings.

‼️💥 Sneaky Night Session and a Goldfish? 💥‼️

Specimen 101 Tester Brandon Parsons and lakes member Danny Keyser headed out for an evening margin session and were rewarded with some awesome captures.

One common...one Mirror...AND A GOLDFISH?!!👀👀👀 not a common occurrence anywhere lol

🎣‼️💥 UNKNOWN GRASSY CAPTURE 💥‼️🎣

Angler Kobus KC Cornelissen managed a surprise capture of this stunning grassy at our small dam.

Up till now we have only been aware of 4 grassies in total at the venue all of which are present in the main dam. 3 of them being of normal genetics and 1 of them being the big albino....so it was quite a surprise to find a good sized grassy at our small dam.

Well done to Kobus for the awesome capture of this new grassy that will be swiftly added to the database.

‼️💥🎣 IAN AND TEVIN MAKE IT THREE🎣💥‼️

A big congratulations to our anglers on swim 1 this weekend for getting onto the fish on their first session!!!

The lads had 6 runs and managed to bank 3 of these very tricky fish including a stunning new Mirror PB for Tevin...who luckily managed to dodge Julio for that bucket....but we'll get him next time.👀🤣

Jw Griesel and Jonathan Adams of Team Fish had a cracker of a session on swim 5 and swim 6 at the Quarry.

Getting into some stunning mirrors and commons amongst various spots along their area. From margins to open water and snags they worked their water well and dominated the weekend captures.

💥‼️GRASSIES ON THE GO AT THE QUARRY‼️💥

Over the last few weeks our resident grassies have been on a mission to pack on some weight.

From particles to boilies they are picking up the baits and giving anglers a good account of themselves and a rare opportunity to land some of these awesome species.

As it stands we have 4 on record...3 of them have been captured but the biggest one (an albino) is often seen the the crystal clear waters of the quarry but...has not been caught. Who will be the first one to land the big albino??? Maybe you 👀👀👀👀

Big congrats to the guys for landing these usually very elusive fish. 😎👌

‼️‼️💥 PB TIME FOR BYRAN WITH BLAIR 💥‼️‼️

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ANGLER WITH HEART, BYRAN HART 😎👌Smashing his mirror PB by a kilo at the Quarry in tricky conditions.

The fish were around for those that took the time to watch the water and Mr. Hart certainly did that. Dispatching his rods out to spaces were the fish were most active and baiting up with a selection of amazing feeds and hookbaits.

Unfortunately (or fortunately if your name is Julio) the fish was landed moments before Julio was scheduled to leave, meaning that he was around to dish out the celebratory mega-bucket 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 disaster struck as Julio had misplaced his 25L 50cal bucket but plans were certainly made 🪣🌊

Through all the commotion the fish was initially misidentified as "Nova" but after some consultation with the Quarry old boys it was found that this was a different fish and thus Bryan would be given the right to name her. Here's what he said about his decision:

"I thought long and hard about it. And I would like to pay honor to one of my favourite anglers in the world, my love for the sport started when one of my friends showed me Euro Banx in 2016 when I was still in college, and in 2019 when I was a working man paying my own bills I started building my kit and getting into it myself, and he is someone I could only dream of having a session with one day. Mr Alan Blair from Nash."

And with that we welcome "Blair" a stunning 8.2kg mirror to the Academy Lakes database.🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

‼️‼️ MIRRORS AND MORE AT THE LAKES‼️‼️

Unstable conditions made for one of the most challenging sessions at the lakes for our members at the Quarry this passed weekend.

Across the lake the activity was much lower than the previous two weekends so it was necessary to change tactics and be VERY patient. Confidence is the absolute key in situations like this.

New specimen angler Keegan Cockburn starting off the action with a screaming day run on swim 6 during a coaching session but sadly lost the fish to a snag. Either way big achievement for the lad rocking the Specimen 101 Baits baits and rigs.

Next up was another Specimen 101 man Brandon Parsons bagging himself a stunning mirror on a straight boilie approach on swim 4. Was awesome to see how happy his little one was with his dad. Proud moment for the Parsons family.

Our head of operations and owner of Specimen 101 baits, Julio and his son Lorenzo rounded off the weekend's captures with some intense snag fishing on swim 6, recording 4 runs and 3 fish landed. One run on Saturday night at around 11pm that was lost to a hook-pull infront of the net... Then 3 runs and 3 fish on Sunday afternoon including two stunning mirrors and small close margin common fished from under the rod tips.

Angler Christopher Fish not letting the quiet carp get his spirit down registered some great bass and a sizeable barbel on swim 2 🙌🙌🙌🙌 a great angler will always find a way to get himself a fish.

From dropping lines, to casting, bait boats and fishing margins close and far, to wind, sun and overcast conditions, commons, mirrors, bass, barbel and trout this weekend had a little bit of everything. Was it our busiest weekend for captures?...No...but was it one of our most memorable weekends thus far... ABSOLUTELY!!!
