What a lovely GUEST REVIEW on Tripadvisor! These guests stayed with us doing the time of the hectic storms and heavy rain last month. This was their report from their experience with us. Thank you! 🍂☔️🙂

"Great Guest House with superior staff:

This is a beautiful Guest House with an amazing staff. We stayed for two nights and the house is very pretty, clean, perfectly located to town and the staff will do anything they can to make sure your stay is outstanding. They treat you better than family (!) and do whatever that can to make your stay perfect. The breakfast is excellent, the grounds are beautiful.

We stayed during a horrible weather system and still had a great visit. The entire town was without power unless they had a generator. Courtney and the staff made sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable.

Our first day was rainy but we were able to still enjoy ourselves. The next day we were able to do the wine tram which was great fun. The house is located within a 5 minute walk to the tram station, town and one of the wineries.

Our driver picked us up very early the next morning and the staff provided a wonderful breakfast for us to take along.

For what could have been a bad experience due strictly to the weather was a wonderful experience due to the staff at Ashbourne." (Date of stay: May 2026)

Happy Friday everyone! We made it to the weekend and it looks like it will be a cold one. Make sure you find a cosy spot by a fire - ideally indoors - with some sweet treats. Or braai first and then get comfy.

Staring into the flames and even toasting a marshmallow or three can be extremely relaxing and soul-soothing. 🔥🍫🍷

Our marshmallow jar in our snack nook is replenished daily so that guests can enjoy some sweetness. Treat yourself. Have a wonderful weekend!

Our latest Booking.com review has made our whole week! 😀✨️🥂

"Why would you stay anywhere else in Franschhoek, a 10 out of 5. Before writing our review, if you are going to South Africa 'a very lovely safe place', look into driving the garden route, our first stop is Franschhoek.

Ashbourne Guest House is located at the beginning of the main street but one block back if coming from Cape town.

We stayed in the Tree tops room or the loft, a very spacious room with a king bed large siting room small entry balcony and alternate window view, the bathroom is nice & very large shower & heated floors, a good size small fridge & tv with very good reception & channel choices.

The staff very friendly & helpful,

Lovely breakfast with a choice of several cooked meals.

You are greeted with a glass of wine or spirit or something soft.

Cakes, water, juice, chocolates, jelly beans, fruit & spirits available all day.

A sensational friendly town and guest house.
Would highly recommend."
