Located along the south-western Cape coast, Walker Bay Nature Reserve is renowned for its pristine beaches, rich marine life and exceptional land-based whale watching. Stretching from Hermanus to Die Dam near Struisbaai, the reserve encompasses the iconic Die Plaat beach, voted by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the world’s best beaches.
The reserve is also home to the historic Klipgat Cave, an important archaeological site with evidence of Middle Stone Age human occupation dating back approximately 65 000 to 85 000 years, as well as later Khoi and San heritage dating back around 2 000 years.
Tune in this Saturday, 15 August 2026, at 18:00 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144) for the latest episode of Hey Skipper, where adventurer and filmmaker Dewald Visser explores this spectacular coastal gem.
