Whale season is around the corner 🐋

Every year, Southern Right Whales return to our coastline between Hermanus and Gansbaai during the winter and spring months, usually from June through to November. They migrate to these calmer, sheltered waters to mate, calve, and raise their young close to shore, making this stretch of coastline one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world.

By August and September, sightings become far more frequent, with whales often seen breaching and tail slapping in Walker Bay throughout the day.

From Crayfish Lodge, our guests are perfectly positioned to make the most of this experience. If you're feeling adventurous, head out on a whale watching tour, but some of the best sightings happen from the warmth of your bed or out on the terrace with a morning coffee.
