Our new Hawthorn Gift Voucher was inspired by someone many of you already know and love: Patrick, our doorman. For years he has welcomed guests with the same warm smile, a tip of his hat, and a way of making every arrival feel like a homecoming. We wanted our vouchers to carry that same feeling.

Meet our resident royalty.

The peacocks of Heatherlands have roamed these streets long before The Hawthorn became what it is today — and they have no intention of leaving. These magnificent birds are free-roaming residents of our neighbourhood, and on any given day you might find one strutting across the garden, perching on a wall, or making a very dramatic entrance past the front door.

We get asked about them constantly, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. There is something wonderfully unexpected about sipping your morning coffee and having a peacock decide to join you.

They are wild, they are free, and they are very much at home here. 🦚

Fuel up the fresh way this Saturday.

Toasted sourdough, smoked salmon and preserved lemon cream cheese, topped with red onion, capers and a pickled quail egg. It's bright, wholesome and full of flavour, and it's perfectly placed at the foot of the Hawthorn MTB trail for a pre-ride boost or a well-earned finish.

From Hawthorn Hall to Sophiatown — and what a journey it was. 🎷

Our main venue was completely transformed into The Sophiatown Experience for Labware's Annual Gala Dinner 2026 — and the result was nothing short of extraordinary. Kente runners, vinyl record chargers, gold cutlery, protea centrepieces, candlelight, a live stage — every detail told a story of South African culture, music and heritage at its finest.

We had the honour of hosting artists Cula, Sun-El and DJ Shorty — and the energy they brought to this room was electric.

This is what Hawthorn Hall was built for.
