Rietjiesbos Self-Catering Self-Catering Suites in a quiet cul-de-sac on the bank of the Sunday’s River in Graaff-Reinet Not all roses and sunshine!

Malcolm and Glynis have spent the past 20+ years living and working and travelling throughout Africa (north of the Limpopo) and Europe, with a stint in Kuwait and the US, and a 14 day stay in Haiti. But the last few years spent in AirBnBs and Guesthouses and 7 months in a motorhome, have laid the foundation for our desire to provide comfort and excellence to our fellow travellers. We welcome you warmly to our beautiful residence set in a pretty country garden in the Gem of the Karoo! Rietjiesbos Self Catering is one of the highest rated accommodation properties in Graaff Reinet and is sure to make you feel right at home. We take great pride in our attention to detail and comfortable, squeaky-clean rooms. The five self catering units lead out onto the garden where you can relax or have a braai in the shade of two majestic trees. Rietjiesbos Self Catering is a 15 minute walk from the nearest restaurants. The art galleries, museums, churches and national monuments in Graaff Reinet are also within easy walking distance. Secure off-street parking behind an automated gate will keep your vehicles and trailers safe. Graaff-Reinet was established in 1786 and is named after the Dutch governor of the Cape Colony at the time: Cornelis Jacob van de Graaf and his wife Cornelia Reynet. It is the oldest town in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa and boasts a rich and turbulent history. There are over 200 listed heritage sites waiting to be explored. Graaff-Reinet is surrounded by the Camdeboo National Park within which the stunning Valley of Desolation can be found! Welcome to Rietjiesbos Self Catering, hope we make you smile:)

Today we celebrate the people who arrive as visitors… and leave with a little bit of the Karoo in them. Because Graaff-Reinet isn’t simply somewhere you pass through. It’s a town you walk, taste, explore, photograph and remember.

It’s early mornings in the Camdeboo.
It’s streets filled with history and architecture.
It’s fossils, museums, art and stories.
It’s local food, farm stays and Karoo hospitality.
And, of course, it’s standing high above the plains at the Valley of Desolation wondering why you didn’t stay another day.
