🌿 Meet the faces welcoming visitors to the Kogelberg Biosphere.
When you stop at the new Grabouw Forest Information Centre, you’ll be greeted by two friendly faces: Lathiswa Nunu and Sanele Msitho.
Both women live within the Kogelberg Biosphere and now work as Environmental Guides at the centre, helping visitors discover the forests, hiking trails and extraordinary biodiversity of this remarkable landscape.
From assisting hikers with permits and trail information to sharing the story of the biosphere, they are helping visitors better understand what makes this part of the Cape Floral Kingdom so special.
For Lathiswa, the role has been an opportunity to grow new skills while contributing positively to her community.
For Sanele, the job has provided meaningful employment while deepening her connection to nature and the importance of conservation.
Together, their role reaches far beyond simply welcoming visitors. They are helping people understand that the Kogelberg Biosphere is a place where nature and communities thrive together.
As Lathiswa says, “My message to visitors is that everything in nature is connected, and we all have a responsibility to protect and respect the environment.” Sanele adds, “I encourage all visitors to respect the environment, avoid littering and help us protect this beautiful area for years to come.”
