Tons of rain over the past few months has meant lots of repairs and maintenance has been underway. Things are looking lush and green. The Assegaai River runs through our valley and when the big rains hit, the dam finally overflows we enjoy the birdlife the water brings with it.

The last time our dam filled was 2014!

This magnificent Martial Eagle spotted just outside Lindale borders. One of Africa’s largest eagles, with a wingspan stretching up to 2.6 metres.

It’s humbling to remember that even in the most remote places, our worlds overlap.

A few incredible facts about the Martial Eagle:
• They are apex aerial predators, capable of taking down prey as large as small antelope
• Known for their incredible eyesight and up to 8 times sharper than humans.
• Sadly, they are listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss and human impact.
