One can see the many aloes growing up on the cliff as well as around the lodge. "Amakhala" - the isixhosa name for "place of many aloes" justifies the immense beauty of such a plant. Woodbury Lodge offers an intimate and tranquil experience of t

he Eastern Cape riverine bushveld along with diverse fauna and flora. It is also home to the Big 5 and many bird, mammal and antelope species. It is the ideal place for families to relax and enjoy the bush together. Guests are often thrilled by the late afternoon sighting of the elephant herd passing by. Our six Lodges all have private decks and large bathrooms with a view over the plains and provide accommodation for up to 12 people. The 3 main aspects of any African safari are the game-viewing, the accommodation and the food - at Woodbury Lodge we take special care to ensure that heartfelt service combines with these three “ingredients” to make your African safari experience a memorable and enjoyable one.

The adults paused for a moment, creating a calm circle of protection, while the youngsters took full advantage of the break — tumbling, chasing and throwing sand over themselves in pure joy.

Moments like these remind us that even the giants of the bush know how to slow down and let the little ones simply be young.
