Hidden within the Lillie Hills of Selati Game Reserve grows the Lillie Cycad (Encephalartos dyerianus), a critically endangered species found nowhere else in the wild. This extraordinary plant faces ongoing threats from illegal poaching and habitat disturbance, making its protection more important than ever.

Through the Cycad Re-establishment Project, Selati Wilderness Foundation is working to safeguard this irreplaceable species by strengthening protection, advancing scientific research, and establishing new populations through carefully managed propagation and reintroduction efforts. These initiatives are helping to secure the future of one of the world’s rarest plants.

Born on 1 November 2019, Iantha is one of the remarkable Rhinos that call Selati home. While naturally shy, she has become known for her unique story, forming a lasting bond with an unrelated young calf and reminding us that the wild is full of extraordinary relationships.

Iantha is one of the Rhinos you can support through the Selati Wilderness Foundation Rhino Sponsorship Programme. Through scientific partnerships and field programmes spanning anti-poaching, cutting-edge species monitoring, and community relationships, it is building a reputation as a leading research destination and thought leader in closed-ecosystem conservation, while demonstrating how restored landscapes can support the successful reintroduction and long-term survival of endangered species.
