Letter | Received from a Concerned ANC Member
Maklera Magazine has since sent a Media Enquiry to the North West ANC Chairperson Dumile Nono Maloi and Provincial Secretary Louis Diremelo, on Tuesday, they have both not replied to the enquiry.
Klerksdorp - kindly request that you keep my identity strictly confidential, as I fear possible repercussions for raising these concerns.
I am writing because I believe there are serious issues surrounding the ANC's ward candidate selection process in the City of Matlosana ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections. I believe these matters are in the public interest and deserve independent investigation by the media.
There are allegations within ANC structures that a group commonly referred to as the "N12" is attempting to influence the candidate selection process for its own political interests. According to these concerns, the objective is to secure control of the Matlosana Council by ensuring that preferred candidates are elected during the internal selection process.
The concerns that I believe warrant investigation include:
Alleged manipulation of ANC membership records to increase the number of eligible voters in favour of preferred candidates during Branch General Meetings (BGMs).
Allegations that dispute outcomes are not always implemented when they do not favour certain individuals, raising questions about the credibility of the internal dispute resolution process.
Claims that individuals from other wards have been allowed to participate in community voting outside their own wards, potentially influencing the outcome of candidate selection.
Allegations that some candidates who may still be associated with other political parties, or who have recently campaigned for other parties, have nevertheless been permitted to participate in the ANC's candidate selection process, despite ANC rules on dual membership.
Concerns that some candidates may have submitted false qualifications or have criminal histories that should have been properly scrutinised before being allowed to stand as candidates.
I cannot independently verify these allegations, which is precisely why I believe they deserve thorough investigation by an independent publication. If substantiated, these issues could undermine confidence in the integrity of the candidate selection process and ultimately affect public trust in local government.
The N12 movement is going to destroy the ANC in Matlosana because of their greed and corruption, them wanting to rule by money and manipulation of the system will affect the process of the 2026 Local Government Elections. I’m talking about well known deployees that goes into wards destroying the process wanting it to work in their favour( Wesley Kgang, Stella Mondlane, Styles Humane, Disebo Motaung, Fhele Vilakazi, Percy Mokgabi) these deployees go in wards just to destroy the process and make their preferred candidates to win.
Preferred Councillors of the N12:
Ward 36: Victor Foboke
Ward 12: Lucky Mundlovu
Ward 1: Dina kalane
Ward 20: Sunnyboy Modiakgotla
Ward 23: Ouma Rachere
Ward 22: Itumeleng Modisenyane “Gigaba”
Ward 13: Fhele Vilakazi
Ward 27: Thandi Ngwenya
Ward 25: Lereko
Ward 33: Mpapa Qankase
Bear in mind the N12 is deliberately doing all this to control Municipalities.
My intention is not to accuse any individual without evidence but to encourage proper scrutiny of a matter that many members and residents are discussing. I hope your publication will investigate these concerns by speaking to affected branch members, examining relevant documentation, and seeking responses from the ANC and those involved.
