Heal the World... make it a better place... for you and for me and the entire human race!

Updated: 29 March 2020 below:

Presently Day 3 of lockdown!

We trust that everyone is doing well during this time of upheaval from the usual normal life one lead to one of self isolation.

We challenge our campers and community to see just how long you're able to go without having to go to a shop!

The past few days have been somewhat different at the campsite with not having campers here and seeing families with friends having fun in nature! You are all sorely missed!

We ask our campers who have sent emails and are awaiting our replies, to please bear with us as from Day 1 we had internet server and data use issues here in Greyton and at the campsite. The overload must have been too much for our area! We will get back to everyone as soon as possible, from tomorrow, Monday 30th, with regards to bookings and rescheduling of dates. Your understanding in this regards would be greatly appreciated as it has been an upheaval time for all concerned.

The plus side with the internet being down is that we got ourselves into the garden over Day 1 & 2 and planted up the following:

Bay leaf & Camphor trees, beans, lettuce, tomato, squash, carrots, spinach, dill, cabbage, cauliflower and watermelon seeds (am sure its too late to plant these but we'll see what transpires). In time we will share some pics and the growing in progress thereof. At present there are quite a few varieties of herbs growing well around the campsite.

A dream is to have veggies and herbs in and around the campsite available to our campers. These areas would be indicated where they all are on our future maps. Baby steps in getting a food forest growing and safe from the horses & cows grazing thereon!

For now, we wish everyone all the best for the days ahead. May you and your family have good health, enough wealth and keep the spirits high till we welcome you back to the Greyton Twin Rivers Campsite again.

COVID-19 Updated 24/03/2020 as CLOSING TILL FURTHER NOTICE.

Our thoughts are with everyone worldwide as we are experiencing this deadly virus outbreak.

We would like to assure our campers that at the moment we are still open as we feel the campsite is a large enough area where good clean natural family fun can be had within the campsite. The bird life is incredible, so are the stars and rivers to enjoy to the fullest. From the campsite one can enjoy some lovely walks, great hikes and mountain bike trails too.

If we place Hygiene as utmost importance we pray we can all get through this together.

We have implemented the following at the campsite to assist with keeping our campers safety first:

Hygiene has always been of utmost priority for us within our ablution facilities and we are increasing the sanitising of all high contact surfaces on a more than regular basis.

Extra soap will be supplied and we encourage all campers to wash their hands on entry and exit to the ablutions.

We will adhere to the limit of under 100 people on the grounds at all times and adhere to the new social distancing. Majority of our sites allow for ample space between campers but we ask our campers for their understanding in the event that their booked site may change if we feel the need to place campers further apart from each other.

The jungle gym in the kids play area has been removed as have the kiddies toys until the Covid-19 threat is over. We ask our campers to bring along their own ball for the basketball net, board games, drawing items as children should be encouraged to rather play within your family or group as opposed to mingling with others. Don’t forget your water inflatables to enjoy on the river.

Bring along your own pen for signing in on arrival. We will disinfect the pen we have but it would be better practise to have your own on hand.
Please contact us immediately if you have flu like symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with Covid-19. If you are feeling unwell then please consider changing your camping trip to another date for everyones protection.

We ask for our local or outside day visitors to please call or WhatsApp us BEFORE arrival at the campsite to check if we would be able to accommodate any day visitors on the particular day as we have to keep our numbers under the allowed amount. The cell number to is 060 901 9708.

Due to this unprecedented event we have had to implement the following which is applicable to all bookings during the Covid-19 threat. If you do not wish to travel and utilise your currently booked dates then you are welcome to postpone your camping trip to another date within 2020 subject to availability.

Our wish for all our past, present and future campers is that you and your family keep healthy and well during this uncertain time we find ourselves in.

It's all change at Greyton Ecocamp! It has been my huge pleasure to look after the Loerkop Campsite and Caravan Park (known as Silky Oaks, then Greyton Ecocamp) for the past three years on behalf of the leaseholder. I took on the task at the leaseholder's request when he became seriously ill and I had always hoped he would one day be able to step back into the business so, trading under my business Greyton Ecocamp, I made sure rent and bills were paid and the terms of the lease adhered to so that he had a lease to come back to. It's been a challenging and expensive exercise because the site needed a large injection of my capital to make it safe and attractive to our campers and it required some subsidy from me before it started to break even which, because of its affordability and accessibility to all sectors of our nation, is probably as much as can be hoped for. Sadly the leaseholder succombed to his illness last year but the lease now passes to his children so the good news is that the Smith family are continuing to run the campsite for the remainder of the lease. They have a new brand and name for the site which they are going to unveil very soon. The Greyton Ecocamp brand will be mothballed for a few months but will pop up again in September at a new, very small site as a niche campsite accommodating a maximum of 8 people. Those who know me won't be surprised to hear it will be a plant based campsite - yes, vegan braai only, here in SA, what can possibly go wrong! The time frame allows the new brand to establish itself. The campsite managers, Wendy and Ian Boshoff, were an inspired choice (if I say so myself) who have taken this outstanding spot and made it even more beautiful. Their warmth, kindness, generosity and hospitality towards all their guests has garnered them many well deserved plaudits and Greyton is truly lucky to have a couple of this calibre in charge of our municipal campsite. They will continue as partners in the new business. I hope the campsite goes from strength to strength and that many more campers become aware of this stunning, welcoming and pet friendly space. All bookings past, present and future are not affected by this change.
