🌌 COSMIC DOUBLE FEATURE AT THE CAMPSITE!
🌌Hey Campers!
🏕️ If you are staying with us this
Wednesday,
August 12, 2026,
you are in for an incredible stargazing treat.
While the Northern Hemisphere is watching a solar eclipse, we have a front-row seat to some of the year's best night skies right here in Groot Brakrivier!
Because we are blessed with beautiful open skies away from heavy city light pollution, our campground is the prime spot for tonight's celestial action:☄️
1. Peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower
This is the big one! The most reliable meteor shower of the year peaks tonight. Even better?
It falls on a New Moon, meaning the sky will be completely pitch-black after sunset (which is at 17:56).
Expect to see brilliant shooting stars and bright "fireballs" right from your tent, caravan, or braai area!
🪐 2. Pre-Dawn 6-Planet Alignment
Got early risers or coffee drinkers in your group?
Look east 30–60 minutes before sunrise on Thursday morning.
Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune will form a beautiful, rare "planet parade" right across the horizon over the ocean.
✨ Campfire Tips for Tonight:
Please turn off your caravan and tent porch lights so everyone can enjoy the dark skies.
Dim your phone screens to protect your night vision.
Grab a blanket, lay flat on your back, and look straight up!
Who is staying up late around the campfire with us to catch the shooting stars?
