You’re sitting in the African bush… and suddenly THIS breaks the silence. 🦁

Not the deep territorial roar of a male lion — this is something completely different. This lioness is contact calling, communicating with her pride somewhere in the bush. Not as powerful as a male, but emotional and hauntingly beautiful.

Her call rolls through the wilderness like a warning and a reunion all at once. One of those spine-tingling safari moments that no speaker or screen can truly prepare you for.

A special moment, shared with us by one of our guests.

On their first night at Hideaway Cottage, they heard soft cries just behind the wall… and found a tiny baby squirrel, eyes still closed, alone after falling from its nest.

Every instinct was to help.

But sometimes, the best thing you can do… is wait.

Hours passed. The little one kept calling.
Hope slowly faded.

Then, at 06:05… she came back.

She went straight to her baby and carried it away.

A quiet reminder that nature often knows exactly what it’s doing, if we give it the space to unfold. 🌿
