We are ready for the summer season 🙌🙌

The past few months have been rather busy at Kubu…

First off, we had to redo the chimney flue for both the deck braai and the indoor fireplace. This was a necessary requirement by the Kruger Park Lodge management team. We acted quickly and fast during August and sent in the contractor’s to do the work. We are one of the very few holiday homes with the estate to have completed the project this year.
For the holiday homes who did not act in time - unfortunately for them, their guests will not be able to use the built in deck braai whilst on holiday.

Next up, we put in a drink water filtration system.

Then a new ceiling fan in the main guest bedroom.

And, yes there was still more to be done…

We closed off Kubu for November for a complete re thatch for the roof. The amazing team finished today, on schedule 👏👏👏

Lastly, fresh new linen has been ordered and ready (we hope), for our December guests.

So if you are wondering if we take Kubu seriously for our guests - yes we do 🙌🙌🙌

And this is why, we may not be the “cheapest” holiday home in the Kruger Park Lodge - but we are one of the best and scoring on Booking.com averaging at 9/10 to 10/10 🤗🤗🤗

P.s. I forgot, we also put in fibre and Netflix as well, plus a large screen TV 😘

It is time to prepare for the end of year holiday season!

We are closing from 22 October to 26 November for a mini refurb 🤗, so we are all bright and sparkly for summer.

First off, our chimney and built if braai have gone through the required upgrade (we are one of the few chalets that have done this).

Plus, we have installed fibre and Netflix for our guests and now the BIG project. The roof is being re-thatched so we are good to go for those wonderful summer thunder storms that blow in over the Kruger ⛈️⛈️⛈️ .

Kubu Lodge reopens again on the 27 November and we have some great specials for early December and from mid Jan 2026 onwards.

We are good to go…

Towards the end of last year, there was a fire at Kruger Park Lodge in one of the chalets - that started from the deck braai / chimney flute. The story did not end well and the chalet was lost. This lead to a complete safety ban on using any braai’s / indoor fireplaces in any of the chalet until they had been fully assessed and upgraded if needed.

Well, this caused much unhappiness with many guests, even though for our guests we installed a Weber - they wanted to braai on the deck - Kruger style !!

I am now pleased to advise that Kubu has gone through a 2 week chimney upgrade and we have the clearance from all official channels; Insurance, Contractor and most importantly the Chief Fire Inspector.

And as of today, braais on the deck are good to go - just to be sure to use charcoal.

During this shutdown, we also took the time to do a little soft refurb inside - so Kubu is fresh and ready for Spring 🌻
