FISHING TIME

Best Times to Fish:
Early morning & late afternoon – when fish are most active.
A rising tide is increasing movement and feeding activity among fish along the Natal south coast.
Early high tide is excellent for shad, kob, and game fish near reefs and points.

Seasons:
Autumn (Mar-May): Estuary fishing peak: kob, grunter and shad are abundant
Winter (May – August): Sardine Run season = massive shoals & predators, normally from Jun to July. Shad are numerous and easy to catch.
Spring (Sep-Oct): Tidal pool and estuary fishing.
Summer (Nov–March): Great for deep-sea pelagics like dorado, tuna, and sailfish.

Methods:
Surf - Grunter, kob, tailor, stumpnose, shad.

Estuary and River – largemouth yellowfish, grunter, mudfish, cob

Rock and Reef – red roman, smallspotted catfish, various reef fish.

Deep Sea Fishing – kingfish, tuna, sailfish, dorado and shark.
