This brand new Culinary Acadamy on the Lower South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a Director of Culinary Studies to lead the charge!

We're building a culinary academy designed to empower individuals and assist with youth development in the area.

As the Director of Culinary Studies, you'll wear many hats.

You'll help develop our curriculum, including diplomas in Culinary Arts, Patisserie, and Hotel Management, alongside shorter specialized courses.

You'll also lead, with the assistance of the Executive Board, our teaching staff, ensuring students receive exceptional training grounded in the principles of excellence.

Three of our Estuary Hotel Chefs got their diplomas today after completing their RPL for N5 Chef. Well done all! The hard work and sleepless nights was all worth it. We are super proud of you and the example you are showing.

A big thank you to Chef Fatima, Chef Shaun and Chef June for all the assistance and putting this program together.

Finally a big thank you to the Department of Tourism for making this a possibility. Initiatives like this assist so many to open up new doors and help to better the industry. Hope we can work together to bring this program in force also to the Lower South Coast and the Wild Coast.

Vacancy : Food and Beverage Lecturer / Duty Manager

Area: Port Edward, KZN South Coast

Position Overview:
The Estuary Hotel and Spa is looking for a Hospitality Lecturer to join the team. The purpose of the role is to teach and share your passion for the hospitality industry with eager young students; helping them grow individually, and ultimately playing a role in their career paths and success in life.

Attributes:

 Good presentation skills and commandment of the English language.
 Strong knowledge and experience of Food and Beverage procedures
 Wine knowledge will be an advantage
 Must be able to assist as duty manager within the Hotel
 Must have a passion for teaching

Coordinating, Mentoring and Assisting Students with respect to Theory and Practical Studies:

 Preparation, and delivery of lesson plans
 Coordinating recording of test results and related administration of assessments
 Setting of papers for tests, assignments and examinations
 Marking and delivering feedback to students

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

 2 Years’ Lecturing Experience (Negotiable)
 At least 5 Years’ Industry Experience. i.e. working as a Restaurant or Food and Beverage Manager (Essential)
 Completed Assessor Qualification or in Final Stages of Completing the Qualification
 Registration with ETDP SETA as an Assessor beneficial
 Scoped by CATHSSETA beneficial

We had the privilege hosting students from The Chefs Training & Innovation Academy (Durban) at The Estuary Hotel and Spa the past few months. We like to thank chef Melanie Campbell and her team at CTIA Durban for preparing these young chefs for the industry and allocating them to complete their in service training with us on the KZN South Coast.
