We cannot recommend Sugar Baron’s Private Rum Tasting Experience enough! Brad & Marisa O'Neill

This last week a few of the HBL Team had the joy of being walked through the process of creating the liquid gold rum that comes out of the Sugar Baron Craft Distillery. What an interesting and lovely experience!

Not only does Sugar Baron create beautiful rums and liquors, they also create an atmosphere of warm and genuine hospitality. We loved supporting and learning from a local and truly inspiring team and brand.

We are located in the Umngeni Valley on the Midlands Meander route nestled by wild bush and overlooking the majestic valley. Hilton College is just 5 minutes up the road and we are conveniently close to both Pietermaritzburg and Howick as well.

“I got 52 bird species at and around the lodge yesterday and today. I took this photo of a Collared Sunbird.” Yesterday we had a lovely local visit our lodge to do some birding, and this is what he messaged us after two visits to our lodge and area.
