Sani Gables B&B is a wheelchair-friendly home, set in the historic Magistrate's orchard, and offers the perfect getaway. The house has four luxurious en-suite double (or twin) bedrooms, each serviced daily. Just over 2 hours from Durban or 90 minutes (110 km) from Howick (all on tarred roads), Sani Gables is set on the main road in the quiet and quaint village of
Himeville, nestled in the Southern Drakensberg bordering the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site . One bedroom and its en-suite bathroom caters especially for wheelchair use, with a bath, shower, toilet, and basin. The other two bedrooms each have en-suite shower rooms. Each bedroom is equipped with tea- and coffee-making facilities, and heaters. Non-alcoholic beverages are available on-site. Rooms are accessible both from the main house and via their own separate entrances. All bedrooms are fully serviced daily. FACILITIES
The cozy guest lounge with its beautiful cypress-wood floors and lovely large fireplace is central to the warm welcome experienced in our home, especially around an open log-fire on cold evenings. Our bed and breakfast has a large veranda, which is a great space for relaxing on summer evenings, while enjoying a leisurely sundowner as the sun sinks slowly behind the surrounding mountains. Secure parking, both covered and open, is available on the property. MEALS
Our tariff includes a hearty breakfast at the start of the day's adventures, which can be served indoors or al fresco depending on the weather. Reservations for dinner at many local venues can be secured via the reception desk. ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
The Underberg/Himeville area of the Southern Berg is a beautiful part of the Drakensberg and provides the venue for a diverse range of activities. We will gladly arrange excursions on our guests' behalf with local service providers. Enjoy the outdoor splendour on several hiking trails, go mountain-biking, quad-biking, tubing, river-rafting, gliding, abseiling, paragliding or horse riding, and visit interesting San rock art sites. Treat yourself to a round of golf on one of several fine courses with spectacular mountain backdrops, or visit the local museum and other places of historic interest. The area is home to the Bearded Vulture as well as many other bird species to excite the enthusiast. Local birding experts offer guided outings. Sightings of large raptor species and rare cranes along the roadside will often reward you unexpectedly with an unforgettable experience. Enjoy some of the finest fly-fishing on offer in the local rivers and dams, or take a 4x4 trip up the spectacular Sani Pass to the Highest Pub in Africa (valid passports essential). Or, if you merely wish to relax, our crisp mountain air and tranquil setting at the foot of the southern 'Berg mountains will do wonders to rejuvenate body, mind, and soul.
