Leopard Gate is being designed to operate entirely on solar power, allowing us to protect the wilderness around us while still offering modern comfort in the African bush.
Far from cities and power lines, the lodge will be powered by the sun.

It’s just a small pin on a map… but for us it means everything.
📍 Leopard Gate is now on Google Maps.
Nine years ago we travelled to this part of the Greater Kruger on safari.
The landscape, the silence and the wildlife changed our lives.
Today Leopard Gate officially has a place on the map — in Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem and unfenced to Kruger National Park.
A small digital pin in a vast wilderness.
But the beginning of something very special.

Leopard Gate Safari Lodge is now officially on the map.
You’ll find us in Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem in South Africa, just outside Hoedspruit.
This region is one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife areas — where private reserves share unfenced borders with Kruger National Park, allowing animals to move freely across the landscape.
For us, this small red pin represents the beginning of something big.

Each one carries the name of a tree that shapes the African bush around us.
Marula — the Tree of Elephants
Wild Fig — the gathering tree
Buffalo Thorn — the tree of memory
Baobab — the timeless tree of life
K**b Thorn — the flowering savanna tree
Leadwood — a symbol of endurance

People thought we were crazy.
We came home from a safari holiday
with a completely different life plan.
9 years ago we visited Parsons Balule Nature Reserve for the first time.
We fell in love with the wild —
the land, the trees and the lifestyle.
That trip changed everything.
We sold the dream home we had just built in Australia
and started the journey to Leopard Gate.
