The Hidden Valley

The Hidden Valley Near Hoedspruit, Limpopo Province, South Africa close to the Blyde River it is a true hidden gem. We have 2 mountain bikes that guests can use.

We offer accommodation for a stop over on your trip to the Kruger National Park, a family holiday, a romantic getaway or a base to explore the area. The Hidden Valley has a range of activities on site, enjoy tubing, canoeing and swimming in the Blyde River. Enjoy the safety of hiking under the canopy of the large riverine trees. Try your hand at fishing for bass, tilapia, yellow fish and carp. For

the birders, there are some rare residents such as the Pels owl, African-finfoot, half collared kingfisher, white backed night heron and the mountain wagtail. The Hidden Valley is perfect if you are looking for a break in the heart of the Lowveld and everything it has to offer. With the Kruger National Park just around the corner, the area has a lot of tourist attractions.

Today we rescued a Pel's owl from the river in front of our cabins. They are very rare. It was completely drenched, exhausted and could not take off. We took it to Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre . No injuries were found, so hopefully it will recover from its ordeal.

The Hidden Valley has been our life’s work and our sole source of income. After recent severe flooding, one of our river cabins was completely lost, and another was left badly damaged and unsafe.
In a single event, we lost a large part of what sustains this place — and us. Rebuilding safely and responsibly will be costly, but walking away from The Hidden Valley is not an option. This camp has been a place of rest, laughter, and connection for so many families over the years.

Recent flooding has caused serious damage at The Hidden Valley. One of our river cabins has been lost, and another has been badly damaged after the riverbank and foundations were undermined. We’re now focusing on rebuilding safely and responsibly so this special riverside place can be enjoyed again. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with support — it truly means a lot.
