Indlovu River Lodge is now privately owned and will no longer operate as a commercial lodge.

Overall winner: Matt Pretorius

Ever since I first saw Matt’s photo of the black-shouldered kite entered in the Eye Contact theme in March, I knew that this was going to be the image to beat this year. Those lines through the image, the strong placement of the raptor, that stunning eye-contact and exceptional processing skills, resulted in the perfect high key image. Well done, Matt! You and three other people will join me at Indlovu River Lodge later this year for a fully-catered photo safari to the underground hides and you get to choose an A0 print from the Cocobie Creative online store.

Runner-up: Eleanor Hattingh

Eleanor’s incredible crocodile photo very nearly knocked Matt off the top of the podium! Not only do we very seldom see animals photographed from directly above, but she also took the shot in just the right amount of side light to create that extremely creative shadow. The composition of the image is also spot-on and I must say, at least for now, it’s my new favourite Kruger National Park photo. Eleanor wins a three-night self-catering trip to Indlovu River Lodge for two people, as well as an A3 print of her choice from the Cocobie Creative online store.
