We offer a range of accommodation options, including: The Forge, The Farm Cottages, The Schoolyard and the Africamps Glamping Tents. THE FORGE

A combination of wow factor, rustic country elegance and romantic charm second-to-none, has made The Forge at Oakhurst a top retreat for anyone looking for a little peace and quiet. Sleeping a total of six, The Forge has two spacious bedrooms with king-siz

e beds, one bedroom has a wheelchair -friendly ensuite bathroom. There are an two additional single beds for kids in a loft room, as well as a second shared bathroom. This 150 year old stone cottage was one of the first building to be built at Oakhurst, still retaining its thick stone walls and exposed timber beams. The living area wraps around the cottage and is made up of a dining area, equipped kitchen with gas stove and cosy lounge. The living area opens out via glass doors onto a lovely covered deck with soothing views onto open fields and forests. Outdoors there is a secluded, open-air hot shower, as well as a private plunge pool and wood fired hot tub. Percale linen, bath towels and soaps, as well as free WiFi are included with your stay. THE FARM COTTAGES

Our Farm Cottages have been a part of Oakhurst for the past 30 years. Kween’s Kaya, Awies Attic, Leenies Lair, Hans’s Hollow and Nick’s Nook are set along the edge of a section of forest, intersected with a gurgling stream that flows during the rainy periods. The cottages are about 15m apart, separated by hedges and have a large lawned area in front of them. Each cottage is fully set up for self-catering, with a well equipped kitchen and cozy living area with wooden floors. The living area in turn opens out onto a large wooden deck and braai area. This is the spot where you can either enjoy a good meal around the large wooden table or simply enjoy some of Oakhurst’s fine mountain air while getting stuck into a good book. Each cottage has three bedrooms (One double and two twins) and sleeps up to 6 people. The double bedroom is self contained, while the two twin bedrooms are interleading, the second twin can only be accessed via the first twin bedroom. Garden Route winters can be cold, and a fire roaring in the kitchen’s wood-burning stove sets the perfect atmosphere for farm winters. THE SCHOOLYARD

Once the school to Oakhurst’s farm children, this building has been lovingly restored and converted into three character-packed, semi-detached (they all sit alongside each other), fully-equipped units, each with a double and twin bedroom. The three units, namely Landon’s Loft, Holly’s Hangout and Anna’s Apartment each sleep 5 guests in total. They have one double room, plus a second bedroom with a single bed and bunk beds with ladders. The units share a full length covered patio, with views out over the farm and mountains in the distance. Holly’s Hangout and Anna’s Apartment. are ideal for families or groups sharing, as these two units inter-lead via internal doors. All units have independent braai areas, kitchenettes and a bathroom with shower. The Schoolyard puts you right in the centre of the action, and within walking distance (500m) of the children’s play area, the farm dam and the swimming reservoir. With those gorgeous rural views and fresh country air, there’s plenty of reason to get out and explore. THE AFRICAMPS GLAMPING TENTS

Africamps now has eight beautiful canvas tents set up at Oakhurst. Overlook rolling green fields and the Outeniqua Mountains beyond, the tents are tucked away along the banks of one of the farm dams, a spot you’ll fall in love with! At Oakhurst there is no shortage of healthy outdoor fun to keep you and your kids busy. The tents are situated next to one of three farm dams. Try your luck at a spot of fishing or take out one of the canoes. Kilometres of well-maintained single track through the forest is ideal for mountain biking or trail running and the farm’s majestic waterfall makes for an adventurous forest hike. The kids can visit Oakhurst Dairy to watch cows being milked and calves being fed either early morning or afternoon. Each tent sleeps 5 and has two queen beds and a single bunk bed. The tents are fully equipped with everything you need, including a lovely deck and braai area.

Many of our guests will know Tiger, the loyal shadow you’ll often spot trotting alongside the horses, greeting visitors at the stables or accompanying Kathryn on her daily rides and adventures around Oakhurst.

Tiger’s story is a special one. As a puppy, he was rescued in very poor condition, suffering from numerous health issues. At the time, the recommendation was that he be put to sleep, but we believed he deserved a chance. Thankfully, we followed our hearts.

Today, Tiger is one of the best-known characters on the farm.

He accompanies pony rides, joins trail rides, often helps lead the horses out and can usually be found by Kathryns side. Their bond is something truly special. While Tiger isn’t interested in making friends with the other farm dogs, his loyalty to Kathryn’s is unwavering. If she’s at the stables, so is he. If she’s walking through the forest with guests, Tiger isn’t far behind.

And on the days he decides he’s earned a rest? He’ll happily stay behind at the stables, patiently waiting for her to return from a long trail ride.

A few weeks ago, we were staring at a dam level so low that the base of our jetty stood completely exposed. After months of drought and some real concern about what winter might bring, things have changed dramatically. Today, the dam is overflowing and the jetty floor is now underwater.

After weeks of heavy rain and storms, we’re slowly working our way through the fallen trees across the farm and forests.

The upside? Plenty of winter firewood. Every fallen tree is being cut, stacked and stored away for the colder months ahead.

Slowly but surely, we’re getting there.

Two years ago, Sakkie and Sarie arrived at Oakhurst as rescue donkeys from a nearby village. Their elderly owner was no longer able to care for them, so we brought them to the farm, hoping to give them a safe and happy home.

What we didn’t expect was how quickly they would become such a beloved part of the Oakhurst family.

Today, they are a highlight of our holiday and weekend activity programmes. Guests love joining in for grooming sessions, carrot time and donkey walks, while our stable manager, Kathryn, shares her knowledge about these wonderful animals.

Did you know? Donkeys are incredibly intelligent, have excellent memories, and form strong bonds with both people and other animals.

Sakkie and Sarie have become some of the most popular residents on the farm. We can’t imagine Oakhurst without them.

What started as a tiny farm shop has grown, little by little, into something very special. As our business has expanded over the years, so has the shop, becoming a hub of local produce, handmade goods, delicious meals and community spirit.

We are passionate about supporting local wherever we can. Our meal and braai baskets are lovingly prepared and stocked from the shop, with many of our products coming from talented people right here in our community.

🥧 Our famous chicken pies are made by, Wilna our farm manager.
🍞 Our roosterkoek is baked by Julianne from our housekeeping team.
🥚 Fresh eggs come straight from our own chicken coop.
🧺 Beautiful placemats and quilts are handmade locally by Nanna
🍦 We stock locally made ice cream and artisanal Karoo yoghurt from De Rust.
🍰 Our delicious carrot cake and chocolate cake are baked by a wonderful local restaurant in George.

Tomorrow, we’re excited to welcome The Gravy Train, two local entrepreneurs who will be serving mouth-watering pulled pork burgers outside the farm shop.

With the MUT runners coming through the farm, their supporters cheering them on and a full house of guests staying with us this weekend, it’s going to be a busy and wonderful atmosphere.

☕ Fresh coffee, homemade cakes, local goodies and plenty of farm hospitality await.

Our Farm Shop will be open all day tomorrow from 7:00 am. Pop in, say hello, support local and enjoy a little taste of what makes our farm community so special.

Don’t miss out this coming week end

After the recent storms, we’ve had so many beautiful big trees come down around the farm. Most of the blue gum will be chopped for firewood and sold in our farm shop but some pieces were just too lovely not to use creatively.

So this week, between all the cutting, clearing and chaos, we’ve been finding new homes for these gorgeous stumps around the jungle gym area — places where kids and adults can climb, sit, balance, play and enjoy them.

A little bit of making lemons out of lemonade… farm-style.

Another 20 dog beds were delivered to the SPCA today — bringing us close to 40 beds in total, which was our target for this special little project.

Over the past month, we’ve been collecting sponsors for fabric and repurposing the pillow inners that were replaced at our Africamps tents. Two inners are sewn together, covered with beautiful fabric and turned into comfy beds for dogs in need.

A very special thank you to Nanna, who has been sewing away in the evenings and came along today to help deliver the beds.

If anyone has old pillow inners they’d like to donate, please feel free to send them my way — we’ll happily cover them and turn them into more dog beds
