Every expert starts somewhere. 🐘
For baby elephants, learning to dust bathe is all part of growing up. They begin by watching the adults closely, then give it a try themselves, often sending more sand into the air than onto their backs.
With time and practice, they figure it out. Soon they learn which spots need the most attention and which soil works best, darker, damp sand after the rain or the lighter dust on hot, dry days.
A small moment of play that slowly becomes an important part of life in the wild.
