Bookings are now open for our July Winter Fireside special. 🔥🔥🔥

Take some time out for yourselves. As Winter arrives, slow your steps. Take a short break away and allow yourself a complete reset. Our Fireside special is designed for 2 people, for warmth and comfort and an unstructured, restful retreat. The rooms allocated for this special specifically have a fire place.

The July Fireside special includes a full body massage by Zukie at the Kings Grant Wellness Centre, an optional 🏛Mill Museum and Trappist history tour and a🍳 full farm breakfast in the St Isidore's Restaurant. One night bookings are permitted. Our restaurant is fully licensed.

Should you book for 2 nights and not require a second massage, the rate will be reduced to R1200 per couple per night.

We're thrilled to be hosting author Paul Meade's Book launch for his latest book ,"It's a long time between Sundays" on the 8th of July this year at Kings Grant Country Retreat. Join us in the St Isidore's Restaurant for a fun fireside evening with Paul, his stories, some drinks, snacks and a selection of our woodfire sourdough pizza's.

We will also be offering a limited menu for those of you who would like to order dinner on your own account. These options include Steaming hot butternut soup and a freshly baked dunking milk bun, Slow braised Oxtail and our Authentic Butter Chicken curry, sambals and Roti's. Our drinks bar will be open for orders too!

Join us for a fun evening of stories, meet the author and get your own book signed by our very own local writer, Paul Meade. Don't miss this one!

Father's Day is just arund the corner and we'll be introducing Dad's Pie Day at the KG! Don't delay with booking your spot. There will be limited pies available!

This year we're going with a faithful favourite, but we're putting a Trappist twist to it. We'll be serving up these golden beauties, The Beef Short Rib and Trappist Ale pie, served with Bone Marrow Beef Jus, creamy potato mash and a healthy serving of our seasonal organic vegetables straight from the garden. 🥧🥧🥧

What do you see when you come to Kings Grant Country Retreat?

Do you notice the nature? The 4 birds perched on a log, the contrasting and vibrant pop of colour during aloe season, the carpet of Autumn leaves, the way the water looks like liquid fire at sunset, the smell and touch of a horse?

Part of slowing down can simply mean taking time to notice nature's details and immersing yourself in that beautiful moment. Perhaps capturing it with the lense of your camera, or describing it in a written piece, sitting on a rock in the aloe garden, closing your eyes and listening to the song of birds, painting it, journaling or just being still.

Sometimes we simply need a short break away from our own life for a reset. A place that is in the country, on a farm and where history and nature inspire stillness, contemplation and simple joy.

Slowly but surely we will be developing this part of the farm, the place of the Brickfield; secluded and surrounded by nature, birdlife and water - a deeply peaceful place, perfect for a slow and gentle walk on your own or together with someone.

We've just mowed a short walking track around this part of the farm and will continue to improve the route over time in the way of making it into a smooth single track course. Indigenous trees will be planted and invasive species removed such as bug w**d, lantana and bramble.

In the mean time our horses assist us with 'traffic' on the track and making the route permanent! As usual, these two special horses provide us with endless entertainment, laughs and companionship! Farmlife is as simple as this!

Do you know that the accommodation at Kings Grant was originally the humble sleeping quarters of Trappist monks and nuns?🛌 Accommodation for the nuns and women staff was in what is now Rooms 1 - 7 and the Monks and men staff Accommodation was in what is now Room 9 - 14. In the heart of it all is the St Isidore chapel. The original cloister rooms ⛪️belonging to the monks are the rooms attached to the chapel.
