The Border Post Hotel is very much still open despite the recent sale of the Pecan Nut Farm next door.

Apart from our fully functioning Restaurant, Pub, Functions Venue and Spa, the re-located Vaalharts Museum is also situated on our premises.

There are no set opening times for the Museum as access can always be requested during business hours at Hotel Reception.

During the 1938 Great Trek centenary celebrations, hundreds of thousands of people wanted to celebrate and participate. With South Africa exiting the Great Depression and slowly recovering from Hertzog's blunder with the Gold Standard, many communities could participate in the 1938 festival through modest means. The community of Windsorton (Northern Cape) contributed to the list of 1938 Great Trek centenary monument with this petite monument unveiled at the local Dutch Reform church.

This is the house in which the world famous heart surgeon, Dr Chris Barnard, was born and grew up in. It is in Beaufort West (Western Cape) and can be visited because it is part of the Beaufort West museum complex. Dr Barnard passed away in 2001 while on holiday in Cyprus and his ashes were buried here, at his childhood home. Hence, on his headstone the words were engraved: "I have come back home".
