Perfect weekend getaway or longer holidays for couples, solo adventurers, small families, or someone looking for peace and quiet to finish writing that book... The cottage is a 2 minute walk from the Kariega River, slipway and lagoon. The main Blue Flag Beach is 5 mins walk away as is a restaurant overlooking the river, beach, and Indian Ocean. The cottage is a 5 minutes stroll from the village ce

ntre. This is a quirky, revamped one bedroom garden cottage, with a lovely sunny kitchen and separate lounge with French doors that open onto my garden. The cottage has a small private garden area but you are welcome to enjoy my garden too. I have an outdoor braai/barbecue area, which you are most welcome to use, except possibly in December/January and April when my family will be here. Access by prior arrangement though during that time. There is a lockable area outside the back door where you can store surfboards, bicycles etc. The main house is one of the original houses in the village - it is over 80 years old. It has its own separate entrance, is set back from the road, with off street parking at the side of my house. I enjoy meeting and interacting with people, so I'm available for a chat, glass of wine or to give any advice about the area that you want. But be assured however that I will respect your privacy at all times if you prefer. Kenton-on-Sea, often called 'the village between two rivers' is unique in that it is off the main coastal road with 2 rivers- Kariega & Bushmans- as 'boundaries' with the pristine beachfront and Joan Muirhead Nature Reserve connecting them. Kariega Main beach has international Blue Flag status and Middle Beach pilot Blue Flag status. There is easy access to all shops, a number of eateries and coffee shops, as well as an art gallery, craft and bookshop. Safe swimming, rock pools, hikes, township tours, bird watching, mountain-biking, horse & canoe trails, boat trips, fishing, dune boarding, surfing & kite-surfing. You can also enjoy the best of the bush at the Sibuya and Kariega Game Reserves, which are a 10 minute drive away. Addo Elephant Park (which has the Big 7) is a popular day trip from here. The Marine Section of the Park extends up the coast from Woody Cape (nr. Alexandria) to Cannon Rocks, a 10 minute drive from here. The Alexandria Dune-fields begin here extending to Colchester/Sundays River near Port Elizabeth. These are the fastest shifting dune-fields in the S. Hemisphere and visible from outer space. I live with my 2 small friendly dogs (Yorkies) Moya and Tabu. We enjoy the sea, sand and sun downers at the beach with friends. Love music - opera/ classical and 'old time' jazz. Reading biographical books, historical/true life and human interest stories plus mystery/detective novels. Entertainment here is mostly TV - programs similar to what I read, news local and world as I need to keep informed, sport from tennis - F1 Grand Prix and in-between, but not wrestling :) Love travelling lesser known routes and safaris, but Cape Town and environs for a culture 'fix' -theater, dance, music etc. I've been in the tourism industry for many years and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, sharing the attractions in this area with interested visitors. As a passionate, qualifed cultural tour guide I can steer you in the right direction, whatever your particular interests are. Would love to help you to discover what the area has to offer and tell you about what is happening at any given time. Advice on your onward travels in this area, the Eastern Cape in particular and the country as a whole is also available. That said, I'm very happy to leave you to your own devices too! The Old Power Station ! Great to see what’s happening there now. Turn left before the Monument on the road towards the Makhanda industrial area.

From Sarah-Jane Wagg (SJ)

As many of you know, Kenton Asian started as something very personal to me, created in memory of my Mum, whose name you may have spotted in the mosaics.

It has been a super fun journey, with a great team, wonderful customers and, of course, my business partner Podge Wansbury alongside me for the ride.

Now that I’ve left Kenton, the time feels right to hand over the reins to Gareth Dwyer and Isabel. I’m delighted that KA is continuing with new owners who share our enthusiasm for the restaurant and want to build on what we created.

Most importantly, we’d love all of you who have supported KA over the years to come along with us and be part of what happens next. There will be plenty that is familiar, including the return of the management team, while Gareth and Isabel begin shaping the future of KA.

Over to Gareth & Isabel...

We first ate at Kenton Asian back when it was in Bushman's, and we were delighted when it moved to Kenton, just a few minutes from our home. We've been regulars ever since, splitting our time between Kenton-on-Sea and Bern, Switzerland. We're thrilled to now have the chance to work with the wonderful Kenton Asian team.

We're new to the restaurant business and know we'll be learning a lot over the next few months. For now, KA will feel very familiar: the management team is back, and there will be only small tweaks to the menu through the high season.

Once the season winds down, around February 2027, we plan to start introducing some new ideas — but before we do, we want to hear from you.

What have you loved about Kenton Asian? What should never change? And what could make it even better?

Come in for a chat, or email [email protected]. We'd love your input as we shape what comes next.

We look forward to welcoming you back from Tuesday, 15 September.

Here's to the next chapter of Kenton Asian, and to taking our wonderful KA community along with us. 🥢

The environment where art is conceived deeply influences the energy of the work.

A quiet moment inside the Kenton-on-Sea studio reveals a space where creative focus and a relaxed, coastal atmosphere seamlessly come together. Surrounding a workshop layout with raw textures, custom woodwork, and local design elements creates the perfect backdrop for studying the natural forms of the bushveld. It is a reminder that fine art is shaped not just by tools, but by the stillness and character of the surroundings.

When designing a creative workspace or home study, do you find that a coastal backdrop or a bushveld setting provides more artistic inspiration?
