The Tsessebe

The Tsessebe is one of Africa’s most remarkable antelope…built for speed, endurance and life on the open plains.

Often described as one of the fastest antelope in Africa, the tsessebe can reach impressive speeds of around 70–90 km/h when it needs to escape danger.

But speed isn’t the only thing that makes the tsessebe special.

These beautiful antelope are highly social animals, often moving together in herds across open grasslands. They are constantly alert, using their exceptional eyesight and hearing to detect danger. When threatened, their incredible acceleration can turn an ordinary moment on the plains into a spectacular display of African wildlife at full speed.

The tsessebe also plays an important role in the ecosystem. As grazers, they help shape and maintain the grasslands that support countless other species.
