𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: St Blaize Cave, Then and Now 🌊

The first photograph shows the St Blaize Cave area back in the 1950s, with a tour bus parked in front of the old Poort Café. Long before today’s modern viewpoint and coastal route, this area was already a place where visitors gathered, explored, and experienced the beauty of Mossel Bay.

St Blaize Cave is one of South Africa’s oldest archaeological sites, with evidence of human life dating back more than 200,000 years. Researchers believe the Mossel Bay area played an important role in the story of modern humans, making this landmark far more than just a scenic stop.

Today, St Blaize Cave remains one of Mossel Bay’s most recognisable heritage locations. It offers ocean views, whale watching opportunities during whale season, and marks the starting point of the ICONIC St Blaize Trail.
