Today is World Cancer Day. Not only would we like to take a moment to remember loved ones we have lost to this disease but we would also like to honour everyone who is still fighting cancer, working towards a cure, caring for the sick, researching, and striving to prevent cancer.

The Flame lily is a beautiful flower. A hardy plant that can flourish in a tough environment. The perfect flower to remember all those who have been affected by cancer.

With the strain that lockdown levels have placed on the hospitality and tourism industry and the second wave of COVID-19 being rampant going into 2021, the Makaranga gardens and facilities will be closed to the public until further notice. We look forward to welcoming our neighbours and friends back to our beautiful gardens in the future, and we wish you a healthy and happy New Year. Keep safe!
