Knysna Featherbed Reopening

The Featherbed Co. in Knysna will reopen on 11th December 2021. Due to Covid19 lockdown regulations operations closed for close to two years. Almost 95% of the reserve was destroyed in the catastrophic fires of June 2017 with the reserve successfully opening again on 4 December 2018 after comprehensive rebuilding and rehabilitation.

The Featherbed Reserve first opened its doors in 1984 and has become internationally recognized as the premier eco-experience on the Garden Route. Situated on the western headland towering above the famous lagoon visitors flock here to enjoy a variety of activities including lagoon cruising, nature trails, hiking and a visit to the beach bar and restaurant at the reserve.

The Featherbed Co comprising Featherbed Nature Reserve, Cruise Café, John Benn and the Paddle Cruiser will all commence operations in the first week of December as a result of a joint-venture between Simola Golf and Country Estate and the original Featherbed company.

‘We are excited about this joint initiative, the timing is right to re-open in time for the Festive Season bringing much needed domestic and international tourism back to the Garden Route’, said Avril Kaschula CEO Simola Golf and Country Estate.
